The Frugal Homesteading Blog covers all aspects of frugal living, small scale farming and food production, healthy eating, community life, emergency preparedness and sensible family finances.
During the current economic climate, extra focus will be given to economic recession issues and surviving financially — especially becoming debt free, a goal for many families who realize the crushing effects of debt.
About the Author
I, Maria, grew up on a family farm on the East Coast, helping with the work involved to grow produce, raise chickens and sometimes pigs. I was a 4-H member for over 10 years and learned many practical skills through my projects. I currently live with my young family, a wonderful, practical, capable husband and our five children, on five acres of land, saving up for a larger homestead while enjoying the work of a garden, egg laying chickens and a pig as we practice self-sufficiency in these baby steps.

Love your blog. Sometime ago I found two acres of land out past the power lines on the edge of an old strip pit for $2,000 bucks, parked a 26 foot travel trailer on it, bought a small generator, three solar panels mounted on a movable frame (so I can keep the panels facing the sun), and two 40 gallon propane tanks, for power and life is good.
