About FRUgal homesteading

The Frugal Homesteading site and blog are authored by Maria, a country girl living the rural life on the East Coast. 

While we are saving up for a homestead with sufficient acreage for cattle, a milk cow, large gardens, many chickens, a greenhouse, an orchard, and all that makes a self-sufficient homestead, we are enjoying life on a quiet two acres. 

We enjoy our small backyard chicken flock, harvesting hardwood for burning from the surrounding woods, and gardening in areas that receive enough sunshine. 

We love heirloom vegetables and canning and preserving local fruit all spring and summer for use throughout the year.

We mill our flour from whole wheat berries and bake homemade bread from soaked flour several times a week.
